When you practise being aware and present in your child’s life, they tend to learn how to channel their emotions in the right ways and the right places because that is what they observe in you. When you regulate your emotions as the parent, this helps your child learn faster because their subconscious is always observing their environment around them. When a child knows how to regulate their emotions, they are better suited to handle a plethora of diverse and complicated social situations. However, if you practise mindful parenting with your children, it will not only help in stress reduction for them in social situations but also get rid of the assumption that they need to seek validation outside of themselves. You can foster self-sufficiency in children by taking steps like letting them do their tasks independently, create decision rich environments for them, teaching them about money, encouraging them to talk about situations, and guiding them to pick up after themselves.
